What is The Crooked Road’s Songwriting Contest?

This is a new project for The Crooked Road in anticipation of The Crooked Road’s 20th Anniversary in 2024.  The goal of this contest is to celebrate the heritage music of Southwest Virginia.

Who is eligible?

Anyone can submit song entries.

How are the winners selected?

Winners will be chosen by a Judging Committee comprised of music professionals including Becky Buller, Johnny & Jeannette Williams, Kris Truelson & Mary Munsey. All five judges will review the initial submissions.  Three judges will be judging the live concert on October 19, 2023.

How much is the entry fee?

The entry fee is $20.  Multiple entries are permitted.

What are the prizes?

There will be 5 finalists, with 1 of these finalists being named the winner. The cash prizes are $100 for 4 finalists & $500 for the winner.  The Crooked Road will also arrange for the winner to record and video the song.
